Schools of Biblical Studies - the future

Our current and ongoing programmes are in Myanmar, Thailand, South Africa, and Nigeria but we have been involved in some capacity in Tanzania, Kenya, India, Cuba, Bolivia and Serbia. Possibilities that we might be able to pursue include the above plus others in The Gambia, Thailand, and other locations in S.E. Asia, but actually if we know that we might be able to respond positively the possible openings are endless. We are currently exploring the possibility of having a UK-based mission partner with the specific remit of developing and co-ordinating this programme.

teaching

We remain keen to mobilise teams from UK and Ireland as well as possibly Australia and elsewhere in the future with the subsidiary aim of exposing Western Bible expositors to engagement with and  possible involvements in world mission.

We would like to model non-denominational teams of men and women, clergy and lay facilitators.

Other Details

We are keen that any financial contribution Crosslinks makes as a mission agency should be enabling nationals to attend and benefit (transport, accommodation, food and materials). Volunteer trainers would need to be self-funding and committed to the possibility of several return trips so as to develop a relationship. Crosslinks personnel or contacts would endeavour to do some briefing/orientation and we may be able to help with tickets, visas etc although currently we have no staffing dedicated to this.

Experience has shown that this cross-cultural work, often with translators, requires different approaches and so we would want anyone new to this to be accompanied by another who has some experience.

Conclusion

Not only are we excited to see the hunger for God’s word but there are clear signs that some capture the vision of Bible exposition. Additional benefits include a unique opportunity to relate with gospel workers in another country with possibilities of developing links and helping in the further training of some. It also provides an environment for working cross-culturally and may even lead on to longer term service.
