What is Ben Shikwati doing?
Rev Benjamin Shikwati is a Kenyan man, and has been working at the African Institute for Contemporary Mission and Research (AICMAR) in Butere, Kenya since 2000, most recently as Assistant Director. From January 2008 he is pursuing a three year PhD course and tutoring placement at George Whitefield College in South Africa.
AICMAR’s vision is to meet a key challenge facing the church in Africa – how to equip enough Christian leaders, bible preachers, teachers and writers able to apply biblical priniciples to contemporary issues while coping with the rapid growth in the number of Christians. As such, AICMAR seeks to nurture scholarship and ministry deeply rooted in biblical principles by providing programmes that combine practical gospel ministry with academic and professional growth. After his time in South Africa, Ben will return to AICMAR to continue this important ministry within the African church.
Whilst at GWC, as well as studying, Ben will fulfil in a key role in enriching the college’s faculty, as well as providing a role model for black African students and assisting them in their studies and personal development.
In view of Crosslinks’ focus on training trainers we believe that Ben is a key person in whom to invest.
Objectives
By the end of three years, it is hoped that the Lord will have enabled the following to be achieved through this initiative:
Costs involved
Supporting a local person is very cost efficient compared to the costs of training and supporting someone to study in the UK. In providing funding for Ben, Crosslinks is working in conjunction with Langham Partnership International, AICMAR UK and George Whitefield College. We have agreed to contribute £4000pa for 2008, 2009 and 2010. This covers over half of Ben’s expenditure each year.To make a donation now, please click here.
