Why pray?

Psalm 127:1 “unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain”

It’s a well known verse, but do we really believe it? Amongst the busyness of meetings, strategies and programmes, it is easy for prayer to become marginalised.

The work of Crosslinks, and its means of mission across the globe, can achieve nothing without the Lord working. Yet the Lord, our Heavenly Father, loves to hear us pray, and indeed works through us as we turn to him in dependence, through prayer.

What a privilege prayer becomes as we come to Almighty God, as our Heavenly Father, and ask him to accomplish his purposes, and bring in his kingdom, in our hometown and across the globe.

Praying for Missionaries

It can be quite a challenge knowing the right things to pray for when praying for missionaries. Eddie Arthur, UK Director for Wycliffe Bible Translators, has had a blog series ( on this topic which has now been turned into a booklet. It uses the Lord's Prayer to help us pray through the needs, work and welfare of those we support. You can download it in pdf form here.
