August 2008
Alan spent 34 years in Jobcentre service. Following early retirement he worked in the private sector using his management, organisational and training skills to help long term unemployed people back into work.
" I became a Christian in my "teens" but it was not until 15 years ago that I started to train for and after 4 years became an Anglican Reader."
In 2006 having had some involvement in overseas mission through his home parish, Alan applied to the Crosslinks NEXT programme. We facilitated an opportunity for Alan to go to Uganda undertake administration, student training monitoring and student language tuition at the Kampala Evangelical School of Theology.

Professor Nydam of Calvin Seminary facilitating training at KEST |
| Kampala Evangelical School of Theology (KEST) aims to equip men and women with knowledge and practical skills for ministry in the local church. It has been running for almost 20 years & has Higher Education accreditation. Recognition of its training attracts students from Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Congo and Sudan in addition to Uganda. | |
Alan plans to return to KEST in September and October to undertake similar work.
We give thanks to God for the opportunity for Alan to serve the Lord in this way and pray for the work he will do and relationships he will build during his second placement.
