Prayer Letter June 2007
HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
‘For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you a hope and future’ - Jeremiah 29:11
God has done that for us all. We have passed the first Anniversary of Afri’s promotion to glory on 13 May. Thanks to all who sent cards, prayed and visited. How wonderful to belong to the family of God. We still miss him but God has bound our broken hearts as in Psalm 147.
I spent the day before with my neighbour, A. Took her kids to the park and had a swing. Afri and I both love swings!
HAPPENINGS IN BIRMINGHAM
I went to the Fame musical and enjoyed it. But as the theme song goes “I will live forever” and I know I will in Heaven - Amen! We have had many friends test out trendy leather sofa bed. I love these visits.
ALPHA
It has been wonderful to see folks draw closer to Jesus. Folks who could not make it on Wednesdays come every Sunday to Church – nationalities are varied (Polish, Iranian, Asian and even Brits from my street).K and B came regularly to this as did K and her daughter. We hope to have a discipleship group for those who want to learn more about Jesus.
GOD MOVING IN MY JERUSALEM
My neighbour A has returned next door and still attends the weekly play group at church - taking the family to a Bar-b-que outreach to an Asian church that our church is linked with.
She is in a quite a difficult domestic situation and I have had to be social worker and welfare officer. I have got her a fridge and arranged for the council to deal with rats in her home!
I listen to her and give her health advice. My nursing is not wasted.

Neighbours K and B had their son baptised. (photo above) Son C loves Sunday school which I often take him to. They too have a complicated domestic situation. It’s also been encouraging that B has come round and we have chatted and I have prayed for them both.
K and daughter have also visited. I have had calls from Asian women who want me to visit as they are so lonely and I enjoy visiting them. Also I have felt led to help mums with young children as God leads.
BIBLE STUDY
Thursdays will be full of fun and noise as I may help with children in a rota. We also take turns to lead and I enjoyed this and prepared well as I was unable to sleep. A lady said she was helped.
BOYS’ NEWS
Simeon has finished school and just attends for revision/exams. He will attend sixth form in September. He broke three toes after an accident at school - so mum runs his taxi service/bonding time! He turns 16 in July.
Judah continues to enjoy the youth group. He and Benji had a residential weekend away. He is 13 and making social contacts outside.
Benji and Simeon played in the worship at the Mothering Sunday special service. He had his SATS exams now. He has also shown great wisdom and empathy to his mum. All the boys spoilt mum on Mothers’ Day with a hair styling set. Judah also gave an amazing PowerPoint presentation.
Thank you being with us in his vineyard and your support.
