Novi Sad is the capital of the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina, Serbia. The city lies in the southern part of Central Europe's Pannonian Plain, on both banks of the Danube river. Novi Sad is the economic centre of Vojvodina, the most fertile agricultural region in Serbia. The city also is one of the largest economic and cultural centres in Serbia.
Chris and Lotta are in Novi Sad to support the evangelical Church in Serbia, and to encourage believers by providing them with biblical training and recourses.
Whilst Serbia is Orthodox by culture and tradition, there is a tiny evangelical Church presence representing less than 0.1% of the population. Due to past persecution, these churches are often very small, insular and divided, with a severe lack of practical training resources to empower and equip church members and their leaders. There is also a fast growing need among poor, illiterate minorities like the Roma: large numbers of them are becoming Christians but few get the chance to train and go on to teach others, as their illiteracy isn’t catered for.
Chris and Lotta run Project Timothy, a Bible teaching and training program for church leaders and members. The project runs various courses aimed at different groups (Team Leadership, Home Groups, a Marriage Course, Evangelism etc) providing to the local church both training and recourses.
